What Dr. Lynn Herndon Loves Most About Being An Optometrist
We recently asked Dr. Herndon a few questions about his career. Here are his answers. We thought you’d find them interesting!
How old were you when you decided to become an optometrist? What circumstances helped you decide?
“I was a Sophomore in high school. I was having headaches and my parents took me to the optometrist. I was very interested in the equipment he used. When I picked up my glasses, I was amazed at how clear everything was immediately. The OD had some free time that day and showed me all the equipment and told me about each piece. I became interested then.”
Where did you attend school and how long have you been practicing?
“I graduated from University of MO-St. Louis School of Optometry. I have been practicing 30 years, all at Vision Clinic.”
What advice would you give to someone who is considering a career in Optometry?
“It is a great profession for anyone! We help people every day with one of their most precious senses. Our patients are typically happy and not sick when they see us. They are excited to have improved vision.”
What is one thing you find most satisfying and fulfilling about being an optometrist?
“In most cases we can solve a patients problem on the day they visit and that reassurance that one can give the patient is priceless. It is so rewarding to see the relief in their eyes when I tell them that we can fix their issues and they are going to be okay.”
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. Herndon better! And, as always, THANKS for being our valued patients and friends!
